Self Harm Talk

Workshops for both Parents/Carers and Adolescents.

We have been very fortunate to of had received project funding from the National Lottery, which supported the Colchester based FLASH group workshops and the development of the TEEN FLASH programme. This project has come to an end.  The success of the project outcomes has led us to develop the Teen FLASH programme group facilitators manual and the Teen FLASH group facilitators training programme.

For us to disseminate the Teen FLASH training effectively we have taken a break from running our Colchester based FLASH and Teen FLASH group workshops. Therefore, we are NOT accepting referrals for our Colchester based FLASH or TEEN FLASH groups.

Our hope is the dissemination of the training will enable more services across the county and country to be equipped to run these groups.

For parents in South Essex Please contract CAVS @  https://www.cavsorg.uk/training-events/ for information on their FLASH groups.

For parents across Essex please contact the Essex family and Wellbeing services @  https://essexfamilywellbeing.co.uk/services/family-support/ to enquire about the FLASH groups.

Available to all parents is our FLASH parents resource page @ https://theministryofparenting.com/parent-resources/flash/

Meanwhile please see the TEEN FLASH website  TEEN FLASH website  Developed by Debbi Barnes, Shelly Steel and the amazing young people who have worked with Debbi and Shelly in designing the Website.

FLASH

TEEN FLASH Project

TEEN FLASH is a project working with young people (aged between 11-16) who are coping with their daily lives by engaging in self-harming behaviours and their parents/or carers. Young people and parents/carers attend separate workshop groups which have linked themes. The young person’s workshops are called TEEN FLASH and the parents workshops are called FLASH (FLASH stands for Families Learning About Self Harm).

FLASH

FLASH is a set of 4 workshops for parents/carers of a young person aged 11-16 years who are using self-harm as a way of managing their difficult feelings or of coping. Their young person may or may not be attending TEEN FLASH workshops. Parents must be able to attend all four workshops.
